This day is to remember those firefighter’s who have died while serving our community or dedicated their lives to protecting the safety of us all. Also, it is the time to show appreciation and support to the firefighter’s worldwide who continue to protect us so well throughout the year. We recognize the risks and the work that firefighters do day to day. The service and sacrifice that the men and women go through consistently is tremendous.
What it Means to Be a Firefighter
Firefighters are the rescuers who are extensively trained and put their lives on the line in handling risky situations. These real heroes need to be recognized and celebrated with a special day for all their incomparable work. International Firefighters Day is one such celebration dedicated to all the firemen and firewomen who deserve appreciation for all the hard work they do. Dedication, commitment, and sacrifice are at the core of what every fire service member strives to embody.
It takes a special kind of person to become a firefighter. They throw themselves out of windows, run through burning buildings and cut people out of cars. When disaster strikes, firefighters are one of the first officials to reach the scene. Even in medical emergencies, firefighters are responding to the call. Bravery is being afraid and going ahead to do the job anyway. Firefighters know that there’s a chance that things might not go their way. Yet, they push through and do it. They see and experience things that affect them both mentally and physically. In the split seconds they have to make snap life-and-death decisions. And sometimes they make errors that haunt them. Firefighters are not unemotional robots; they real people with real feelings – everyday people doing superhero-like things. And despite all the challenges, they continue to do what they do.
